Spear Among Spindles (11,000 words) was published in Drollerie Press’ Playthings of the Gods, a collection of stories that re-imagines tales from Greek mythology as YA contemporary/urban fantasy.
To most of its students, Skyros Girls’ Preparatory is the first step into a privileged life among society’s elite, but for 17-year-old Keelie, it’s a prison, imposed by a domineering mother. However, when war breaks out in the wake of Queen Helen’s scandalous elopement with Paris of Troy, liberation comes for Keelie in the strangest of ways.
Note: Sadly, on October 21, 2011, Drollerie Press closed its doors, meaning that Playthings of the Gods is effectively out of print. For more details, read this post. I will be trying to find a new home for Spear Among Spindles though so if any of you have leads please email me at S.Q.Eries @ gmail (dot) com.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like an interesting read. Again, I can recommend Kindle until you manage to get it back into hard copy again.
